She pulled out the box of paints her roommate had left her.
She searched for the colors she’d need.
She pulled and painted
She scratched and scraped
Trying to paint the life that she’d seen.
She splashed the colors across the paper
Searching for what they could mean
And as the picture began to form
It was those eyes that she’d knew she’d seen.
Eyes that said you’re not alone.
Eyes that said I care.
Eyes that meant she had someone.
Eyes that honest and fair.
And as she put down the brush and saw what she had made
She knew that going to that land was no mistake.
It was something she’d had to do.
Something to break her out, something that felt brand new.
And even though she’d left disgraced.
She knew it was part of her fate.
To go to the land of pines and water
To meet the boy her heart had fallen for.
