Standing on this unstable ground.
She stares at the fire lake around her as she breathes in the sulfur and the brimstone.
And with the tips of her toes dipped in lava
She likes it.
Just a little.
Her whole life was spent on the clouds.
Trying to stand above the dirt and the dust that was the Earth.
But now she has hollowed deep inside the Earth.
A place that is foreign and real for the first time.
Solid and painful
But it reminds her that she’s alive.
And though those upon the clouds call out and scream that she is in trouble
That this ocean of magma is going to swallow her whole
She ignores it.
Because for the first time in her life.
For the first time
She’s feeling.
She’s choosing to feel.
