I don’t want to worry about your thoughts.
I don’t want to be seeking your approval.
Groveling at your feet trying to catch one glimpse
One glimmer of recognition in your eyes.
I’ve fought that hard and received nothing
From other men.
And I am done trying to seek out that gratification
From you.
I don’t want to.
I want to be independent and strong.
But for some reason
You’ve got this stupid hold on me.
So I’ll avert my eyes.
If I forget you exist I don’t have to worry
That you won’t notice.
