Unlike any other time of day.
There are no busses or delivery trucks.
No house wives running errands.
No mailmen or dogs on walks.
2 am is divided into 2 parts.
The teenagers sneaking home
And people like me.
Bleary eyed monstrosities too wired,
Too tired
Or too disturbed to fall asleep.
2 am is when no decent show will pay to air.
2 am is when they play commercials that make your mother uncomfortable.
2 am is either a book, an infomercial or a computer.
Reading writing and losing your mind
Is all that can be accomplished at 2 am.
And for some reason
It’s when I feel most alive.
So leave 2 am to me and my people.
People running to
Or from something so fast
That 2 am is not a time for sleep.
