It’s snowing now.
The last time I saw snow
You and I were dancing in streets.
Hands carefully shoved down in pockets.
But heats so up amongst the softly falling clouds.
You waltzed me across and up and down
With no music but the samba of our own hearts beating.
You fox-trotted me through backyards and over fence lines.
Yes the last time the snow fell we were in love.
But now.
Now we are the shells of our former selves.
Still smiling.
But not with the wide eyed wonder
We did that last night in the snow.
