All growing up they say
“you’ll turn into your mother”
And as the horrified 13 year old you respond with shock and disgust and
“Not me, never”.
And then you grow up.
Ad you move away from home.
But somehow you end up being just the same but alone.
And you try to be new and grown up and strong
But you were just becoming more like your mom all along.
Because your 13 year old eyes in your 13 year old head
Weren’t big enough to see all the great things that she did.
Your little ole eyes couldn’t see her strength.
They couldn’t see her prowess, her faith.
But now that you’ve grown and you’ve learned a bit more
It’s clear that you want to be just like your mother
