High Diving

I’m in the kiddie pool,

I’m testing out the waters.

I’m seeing how far I can go.

I’m anxious and scared

I’m feeling completely unprepared

And yet here I am all of a sudden.

Atop the high diving board

Toes curled, arms up straight

Time to jump.

And then my stomach clenches

And I’m falling through the sky

Teeth clenched

Jaw set

Time to show them.
