Chicken Counting

One, two, three

Eggs, chickens you shall be.

Four, five, six,

Everyone recommends against this.

Seven, eight, nine,

I don’t really understand why.

Ten, eleven, twelve,

Whats wring with the dreams of the future in which I delve?

Thirteen, fourteen,fifteen,

Optimistic is what I’m being.

Sixteen,seventeen, eighteen,

I think I’m beginning to see.

Nineteen, twenty, twenty one,

I’m beginning to catch on.

Twenty two, twenty three, twenty four,

Whats the point anymore?

Twenty five, twenty six, twenty—

Ah! Forget it!

These eggs never hatch.

Guess its a bad batch.

Just like the last one and the one before.

Sick of tears over things I only hoped for.
